A Mighty Real Friendship

Every morning, Ray is the first and last person in the dining room for breakfast. As his appetite has thankfully grown, so has his friendship with one of our talented cooks, Alex.

When Ray comes in for breakfast, he sometimes forgets little things behind. Since Ray uses a wheelchair and has limited mobility, it can be difficult to carry all of the day’s necessities: extra masks, hand sanitizer, wallet, keys, etc.

So, when Alex gave Ray a fanny pack, it was a game-changer. It gave Ray a bit more independence, a gift with immeasurable value. Plus, he matched his breakfast buddy, Alex.

“You know that song ‘You Make Me Feel Mighty Real?’” Ray said. “That’s Alex, mighty real.”

Thanks to Alex, our food services team, and your donations to our food program, Ray has gained a healthy 40 pounds since arriving at Maitri a few months ago.

“Alex makes sure I am eating well and he makes very good food,” Ray said.

Alex and our food team can go above and beyond to create soulful means because of you. Your support allows our food services team to not just make nutritious meals, but delicious meals that draw our residents together in our dining room for heartwarming shared meals.
